Message from Mr APS Mani (Executive Convenor, ICAT)

Dear Friends:

Diwali Get-together, Saturday, 30th October 2004
Venue: St Mary's International School, Seta, Setagaya ku, Tokyo

Our Annual Gala function, DIWALI GET-TOGETHER will be celebrated this year on Saturday, 30th October 2004. Indian Community Activities Tokyo (ICAT) is celebrating 28th year of Diwali Get-together in Tokyo. This is the largest gathering of our Community members under one roof for any function that is conducted in Japan.

May we bring to your kind attention that the aim of ICAT is increasing fellowship among Indians in Kanto area and for this reason we do not charge any annual membership or admission fee for being a member and thus any Indian residing in Kanto area can join ICAT by subscribing their name in this Web site and register the basic details reflected there. By registering via the website, a person's membership is automatic. Please spread the word among your Indian friends about this registration procedure and make all Indians living in Kanto area members of ICAT. Thank you.

With the sizeable increase in the members of the Community, circulating news through a newsletter among the Community becomes an uphill task. However, we are bringing out our circulars and Newsletters periodically for the benefit of the Community, whenever it is absolutely essential. It is ideal to browse through the www.manicat.org and update yourself of Community events. After all, 80% of our present Community members are on their computers most of the day!

The Diwali Get-together is our event of the year, one that attracts the maximum number of our people who look forward to a celebration of the spirit of tradition and the joy of togetherness. This is an excellent occasion to regenerate fellowship among old residents as well welcome and meet the newcomers.

We need a large contingent of volunteers and we shall be happy to enlist persons as volunteers for the evening amongst those of you who can spare the day or even half the day to help us with the enormous amount of work that has to be put in on 30th October. This is the only event of the year which collects so many of us together. Let us have a good fellowship and fun. Diwali is our most important festival and let the Diwali spirit be maintained throughout the function. It is a great opportunity for all of us to meet many fellow Indians, Japanese colleagues and people of other nationalities who all are interested in India. It will be a lovely sight with many of our people in a festive mood, all assembled under one roof. Be a part of it and enjoy a great evening. DO NOT MISS THE FUNCTION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. We have made all arrangements for a memorable evening. Kindly come as early as possible, meet old time friends, make new ones, see the cultural programme presented by our members, participate in the raffle and have a leisurely dinner with your friends. Your invitation to your friends on this day to attend the Diwali Get-together will be greatly appreciated.

Admission Details:
All are welcome to our Diwali Get-together. If you are bringing a big group of friends, please call us on 03 3727 4417 in advance. You can also inform us by Email. It will be a big help for us to plan the function as the number of participants are one of the criteria for organising any function.

Entrance Donations:
For all adults Yen 1,500 per head
For all children between the age of 6 to 12 Yen 500 per head
This is the most economical entrance fee in Tokyo for such a major function. We encourage all of you to attend in large numbers bringing along with you -- your Japanese and other nationality friends. A great opportunity for them to see the culture of our country.

If any of your Indian friends are visiting Tokyo area at this time of the year, please invite them for our Diwali function so that they may not miss the festivities of Diwali. We do not want any of our countrymen to miss the festivities of Tokyo area on Diwali day.

The attention of IT professionals is specially drawn to the fact that this is a great occasion for you to have fun and fellowship together. You all work a number of hours a day and you need a comfortable break with your fellow citizens at least once a year. Please come and join all of your colleagues and us on the Diwali Day.

We are a small Community compared to other countries where Indians live. We are unique in several respects. We are a model to many other countries where Indians have their associations and celebrate Indian festivals. Let us keep it up. Let us assemble together in large numbers and make it a memorable function. We should ALL be together on the Diwali day to exchange greetings and fellowship. The basic philosophy of ICAT is to have fellowship among our Community members and this can be achieved only if all of you are present for the Diwali Get-together.

Ours is the only Association that charges no subscription fee or membership fee for being a member. The only request that we have is to help us in Diwali get-together day by attending the function with family and friends on time. Kindly assemble in the St Mary’s Hall by 4.15 p.m. at the latest.

We are preparing a full list of Indians in Kanto area. It is ideal that you are in the list and I earnestly request you to register your name with full basic details so that invitations, if a special gathering is organised, will be POSTED to you.

Looking forward to being with you on Saturday, 30th October and wishing you all A HAPPY, HEALTHY, PEACEFUL AND PROSPEROUS DIWALI.

Cordially yours,

APS Mani
